Visit some of Icelands natural wonders!

There are a number of commercial pre- and post-conference tours that you can book during the registration process.

Golden Circle Tour

12 Sept (day trip 8hrs) and 15 Sept (evening trip 6hrs)

The Golden Circle tour allows you to visit some of Iceland’s most stunning sights, starting with the Geysir geothermal area where the Strokkur geyser shoots a column of water up to 30 metres (98 ft.) into the air every 4-8 minutes in a thrilling display of nature’s forces. The visit continues with Gullfoss (Golden Falls) waterfall, created by the river Hvítá, which tumbles and plunges into a crevice some 32 m (105 ft.) deep. The Golden Circle tour also includes the historical and geological  wonder that is Thingvellir National Park, where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimetres per year.

Additionally, the tour includes a visit to the idyllic Friðheimar greenhouse cultivation centre, where you  can learn about the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes and cucumbers with the aid of the geothermal heat that Iceland has in abundance.

Classic Reykjavik Bike Tour

The route may include but is not limited to the following places; Reykjavik’s south facing beach – Ægissida, University of Iceland campus, Nordic House, Reykjavik’s Catholic Cathedral, Parliament building, Reykjavik’s Old Harbour, Tjörnin City Lake and City Center. We also pass the home of some of Iceland’s most famous people.

Whale Watching

12 and 15 Sept

We sail out for whale watching all winter long and the tour takes about 3 hours, departing from the old harbour in Reykjavik. You will see the city from the seaside, perfect for photography and the surrounding areas, mountains are beautiful. In good weather conditions you can see all the way to Snæfells Glacier in the west of Iceland. It takes us about 30-45 minutes to reach the whale watching grounds and on the way your guide on board will tell you all about the history of the area, facts, stories, and answer any questions you might have. When we reach the whale watching grounds you will hear more about the whales and help the guide spot them out. The whales sometimes are curious and come close to the boat as we respect their presence. Our whale watching grounds include Minke Whales, White-Beaked Dolphins, Harbour Porpoises and the great Humpback Whale.

Horseback riding – Lava Tour

In Reykjavik we ride in a colorful landscape full of contrasts, lava landscape and mountain view. Here you will meet the great Icelandic Horse and we go for a great TÖLT ride.

Departure: 14:00. Pick up between 13:15 – 13:45 at hotels and guesthouses

Duration: About 2,5 hours. Approx. 1,5 hours on horse

The Blue Lagoon
